In his tenure as a Volunteer Advisor, Augusto “Gus” Ribeiro has significantly impacted lives of clients and partners. In total, he has completed over 30 assignments in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Among the partners and clients Gus has supported are local municipalities in the Philippines where he played an instrumental role in the development and launch of the e-Governance project. He worked with local municipal employees and other CESO VAs to build a not-for-profit organization focused on strengthening municipal governance through the development and use of information technology systems. As part of the project, Gus conducted training with local volunteers to ensure they can become on-site technical leads for the implementation of the software systems. He became a Lead Volunteer Advisor of the project where he assisted in its strategic direction, supporting further program implementation in over 90 municipalities in the Philippines. Today, eGOV4MD has supported over 450 municipal staff in technical software and database development. The project has resulted in increased municipal efficiency and reduced corruption, allowing private sector development, such as SMEs, to thrive.
The LVA guided the eGov4MD Inc. and LMP to an enhanced clarification of the direction for the eRPTS Development and coordination with the key personnel of the National Agencies… The National Government Agencies’ eagerness to push automation of BPLS in the Philippines, recognizing the implementation experience of eGov4MD Inc. and the LVA’s technical expertise, positively affected the overall results of this assignment.
