Ten CESO Volunteer Advisors to be presented with Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

TORONTO (April 16, 2018)— In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we are very proud to
announce that ten CESO Volunteer Advisors have been awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for
Volunteers this year. The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer
achievements of Canadians from across the country. As an official Canadian honour, the medal
pays tribute to the dedication and exemplary commitment of volunteers.

“I am delighted to extend my sincerest congratulations to our CESO Volunteer Advisors who are
receiving Canada’s 2018 Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. As a volunteer-sending organization,
CESO’s Volunteer Advisors have had a tremendous impact on the lives of many people around
the world and in Canada,” says Wendy Harris, CESO President and CEO.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will present the
medal in person to one of our CESO award recipients, Dr. Ginette Gagné-Koch, during a
ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. During her 17 years as a CESO
Volunteer Advisor, Dr. Gagné-Koch has successfully completed a variety of impactful
assignments in Canada and abroad, as well as serving as the Chair of the CESO Board of
