As the face of CESO in countries and regions where we work, our Country Representatives are crucial to driving the success of CESO programs on the ground. They ensure responsible program planning and implementation in collaboration with Canadian staff and Lead Volunteer Advisors, and act as the liaison between our Volunteer Advisors and clients during assignment delivery.

As locals to the regions and countries where they work, CRs help us identify and incorporate local ideas, processes and approaches in the program services we deliver. By tapping into the knowledge and experience of their respective countries, they are able to identify and maintain productive partnerships that respond to local needs.

We asked our Regional Country Representative to tell us a bit more about their work motivation and the importance of economic development in their own regions:

“In a world where self-interest is so prevalent, it is truly a privilege to be part of an organization that exist because people give of themselves to help others.”

– Ann Persaud (Regional CR, Caribbean)

“When I started my work with CESO, I was simply interested in working with an International NGO. Soon, however, I became highly motivated when I realized that what I was doing was not only giving me income to support my family, but helping to transform the lives of my fellow countrymen and women… Alone, they could not afford the high cost of hiring experts with the skills to help them develop. What we do at CESO makes a difference here in Tanzania and around the world.”

– Innocent Semu (Regional CR, East Africa)

“I am motivated by the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of otheres. CESO has enabled me to be instrumental in linking Canadian expertise to the needs of our partners and clients.”

– Matt Navalta (Regional CR, Asia)

“For me, economic development is important because it generates opportunities… to narrow the gaps between the people who have access (to opportunities) and the people who do not. If we contribute to economic development, we are contributing to developing independent, intelligent and innovative people. We are strengthening future generations.”

– Carlos Ramallos (Regional CR, Latin America)
