What is your role or relationship with CESO?
How long have you been working or volunteering with CESO?
What motivates you to work or volunteer with CESO?
Meeting people from different cultures, passing on my knowledge of classical cuisine, and showing what it means to be Canadian.
What is your most remarkable experience or memory of CESO?
Assisting the displaced refugees from the Russian insurgency in Georgia in 2008. I introduced 12 women from the refugee camp in Gori, Georgia, to the baking and management skills necessary to hopefully open a bakery.
Economic development is important because…
Economic success has to start with employment. For instance, the hospitality industry is the number one source of economic benefit for developing countries. Tourism is also a good starting point for unskilled labour.
What advice would you give other Volunteer Advisors?
Learn to adapt and avoid comments on culture and beliefs
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank CESO for the opportunity to share my knowledge. There are many CESO volunteers that work tirelessly in the background without thought of recognition or reward. To them, thank you!
