What is your role or relationship with CESO?
How long have you been working or volunteering with CESO?
Over 20 years.
What motivates you to work or volunteer with CESO?
Being able to share my skills and professional experience with others who may want and need them.
What is your most remarkable experience or memory of CESO?
About two years ago, I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from one of the hotel managers I worked with in the highlands of Honduras. Over a year before, I worked on a CESO assignment in the town of Gracias in Lempira, which is generally overlooked by tourists in Central America. In the email, the manager said it took them a long time to create a logo to promote the town, but they finally had one. An image of the logo was attached. One of the issues I worked with the group was how to promote this naturally beautiful place and create a unique image for their colonial town. Unbeknownst to me, they took it to heart and even remembered to send me a souvenir of that assignment.
Economic development is important because…
It empowers people.
What advice would you give other Volunteer Advisors?
What we know may not necessarily be the best solution to their challenges. We have to adapt and innovate to suit the local needs.
