Dr. Dorothy Nyambi named Vice-President of CESO International Services

TORONTO, ON - Today, the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) welcomed Dr. Dorothy Nyambi, a veteran of more than 14 years of international development work, as Vice-President of International Services.

After getting her start with the U.S. Peace Corps in sub-Saharan African countries and in Washington, DC, Dr. Nyambi also worked for USAID, and Population Services International. She has developed and managed major funding proposals for a variety of funding agencies, government donors, individual givers and foundations.

Most recently, she served as the Toronto-based Regional Director for West and Francophone Africa at Right To Play International, an athlete-driven international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play as a tool for the development of children and youth in the most disadvantaged areas of the world.

"Dorothy has a unique understanding of the multiple perspectives and challenges within this sector," CESO President and CEO Paul van der Wel said in announcing Dr. Nyambi's appointment. "She has the broad experience necessary to successfully develop and manage strong multidisciplinary teams and establish and build the required relationships and partnerships with stakeholders at all levels, from individuals, grassroots communities, national-level governments and international stakeholders."

Founded in 1967, CESO is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization providing economic development and governance expertise to client/partners in Africa, Asia, the Americas, the emerging market economies in Eastern Europe, and to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians.

As a leading Canadian international development agency, CESO's work overseas is largely supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) while the national program receives primary funding from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). Additional funding comes from client/partners, multilateral agencies, Canadian corporations, foundations and scores of interested individuals.

"I feel privileged to be joining this great Canadian organization with a solid reputation for helping thousands of people in Canada and around the world," said Dr. Nyambi, whose practical work experience is complemented by a Medical Degree from the University of Cameroon, and post graduate specialization in Public Health with an emphasis on policy and management from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

Born in Cameroon, Dr. Nyambi lives in Toronto with her husband and three children.
