Who we serve

Since 1969, CESO has worked alongside approximately 40,000 Aboriginal clients and partners -- entrepreneurs, band and tribal councils, non-status, Métis and Inuit communities right across Canada.

Results

CESO Aboriginal Services undertook an evaluation to measure results realized and to establish program effectiveness, relevancy to Client needs, and long-term sustainability of results.

Assignment ratings are based on the attainment of outcomes realized by the client, and supported by feedback received from the Volunteer Adviser (VA) and the client.

Post-assignment evaluation is based on a random sample group of 64 assignments completed in fiscal year 04/05, from two provinces (Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario).

  • 55% of assignments achieved results ranging from Significant to Moderate.
    • Significant Results: Numerous results realized, of major significance to client’s operation.
    • Moderate Results: Numerous results realized, of moderate significance to client’s operation.
  • 56% of assignments in the sample group resulted in improved operating efficiency.
  • 31% reported enhanced reputations in the community.
  • 14% introduced new services after completion of assignment.
  • 14% saw an increase in the quality of services provided
  • 8% saw an increase in sales, despite the short period of time since completion of the assignment.
    • Note: Taking into consideration that an assignment may lead to the realization of more than one outcome, the percentage is calculated separately for each of the potential outcomes.
  • Of the assignments in the sample group that resulted in some improvements:
    • 60% fully attributed those results to CESO’s assistance.
    • 40% partially attributed results to CESO’s assistance.
  • When asked about the effectiveness of the VAs:
    • 70% rated their VAs as either very effective or effective.
  • The Majority of Clients viewed CESO’s assistance as an important part of their progress and growth.
  • Using Client satisfaction as a measure of success, the programs and services provided by CESO Aboriginal Services can be viewed as highly successful in meeting the needs of its clientele.
