The Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) is a unique, volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1967. Its mission is to build capacity in governance and economic development through the transfer of knowledge and skills by Volunteer Advisers. CESO has the following opportunity in its International Services Department in Toronto:
Program Manager, Americas We require a dynamic individual to work out of our Toronto office to plan, design, organize, coordinate and manage programs and operational activities for the International Services Department as well as other CESO activities in the Americas.
Reporting to the Vice-President, International Services, this position will be responsible for reporting, monitoring, managing contracts, agreement and budgets; contributing to the development of new projects and programs for the Americas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Program Management
- Monitors and measures program activity, sector focus and results achieved against objectives
- Assists in preparation of budgets, forecasts, quarterly and annual reports and work plans
- Identifies key priorities including goals, objectives of program and recommends adjustments to Program
- Coordinates the work of Country Representatives (CR), Recruiters and International Coordinators to respond to Program needs
- Monitors Assignment results and compares them against objectives according to Result Based Management method
- Advises Vice-President, International Services of changes required in administrative systems to support program/program changes
2. Program Administration
- Makes recommendations for modifications on assignment purpose, duration and terms of funding agreement
- Monitors recruiting process, reviews and coordinates VAs to be submitted for and participating in assignments
- Develops and undertakes Program specific briefings and debriefings of VAs when required
- Monitors the expenses against budget of the Program through the quarterly statements to the sponsor and the management screens
- Supports CRs, Country Project Managers and Lead VAs in resolving Assignment problems as required
- Trains new CRs and Country Project Managers
- Monitors all Accounts Receivables of the region and follows-up on outstanding accounts
3. Business Development
- Develops project opportunities under the guidance of the Vice-President, International Services
- Assesses the expertise required for delivery of new business
- Researches background for proposals as required
You will bring:
- Fluent bilingualism in English and Spanish (oral and written), French an asset
- 5-10 years experience in managing overseas development projects in the Americas, including significant field experience
- Degree or equivalent in a field related to International Development
- Experience with multilateral or bilateral donors, especially CIDA–financed projects
- Experience working with volunteers
- Knowledge of Results Based Management Method
- Knowledge of countries in the program area and their cultural sensitivities
- Basic knowledge of budget and financial reports
- Coaching, conceptual and analytical skills
- Computer literacy – Word processing, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint
- Organizational and time management skills
- Capacity to maintain focus on various activities and multitask
- Willingness and ability to travel in the Americas
