The Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) is a unique, volunteer-based, not-for-profit Organization founded in 1967. Its mission is to build capacity in governance and economic development through the transfer of knowledge and skills by Volunteer Advisers. CESO has the following opportunity in its International Services Department in Toronto.

International Coordinator, Americas

Reporting to the Program Manager - Americas, to be successful in this role, you will be proactive in providing exceptional administrative, logistic and program support in the Toronto Operations Centre making logistical arrangements, providing documentation and support to volunteers embarking on international assignments, in a timely and efficient manner. Your previous work experience will enhance your ability to provide support to Volunteer Advisers’ Public Engagement activities and events in Canada.

You will be responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Administrative 
    • Assignment-related database maintenance
    • Support to returning VAs vis-ŕ-vis public engagement activities in Canada (conferences and workshops, articles, posting on internet, etc.)
    • Participate in team meetings, group activities, task forces, and committees, as required
    • Assist in the orientation of new staff, interns and consultants by providing them with relevant documents and materials for orientation
    • Maintain adequate electronic and paper filling systems for the region
  • Program Support
    • Provide research assistance to program managers and directors as required for the development of projects within the region
    • Maintain and update contact information for all field and Canada partners for projects within the region
    • Maintain current knowledge of conditions and background of countries assigned
    • Available for field travel to provide admin and program support as required
  • Travel and Logistics
    • VA pre-departure logistics preparation, including assignment documentation, visa procurement, travel reservations, cheque requisitions, etc.
    • VA briefing and debriefing
    • Guidance and support to VAs and field personnel in assigned countries
    • Logistics of face-to-face meetings with VAs and staff as required
    • Approval and reimbursement of VA assignment-related costs
  • Other tasks as required by direct Supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish – mandatory
  • Experience in working with volunteers in a multiple task oriented environment in the not-for-profit sector an asset
  • Knowledge of international development issues with cross-cultural experience
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including e-mail, excel, PowerPoint and Internet and database knowledge
  • Good interpersonal skills along with analytical skills with precise attention to detail
  • Writing skills to prepare routine correspondence and reports
  • Detail oriented with excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills hand in hand with the ability to negotiate with diplomacy
  • General knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment
  • High school or college diploma
