The Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) is a unique, volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1967. Its mission is to build capacity in governance and economic development through the transfer of Knowledge and skills by Volunteer Advisers. CESO is seeking:

Financial Analyst (Bilingual)

Location: Toronto

In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and variance analysis. You will act as the financial team member in the International Services Department working on bid proposals and, preparing financial and ad hoc reports for sponsors and management. You will also assist the Vice-President of International Services and the operations staff with financial, accounting and management procedures.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops in conjunction with other staff, annual budgets and periodic forecasts of expenses and revenues for all International contracts, reviews these with appropriate parties and makes recommendations for action
  • Prepares various financial analyses, reviews these with appropriate parties and makes recommendations for action
  • In consultation with others develops financial proposals to support contract bids
  • Verifies field expense claims for accuracy & compliance with respect to budget/contract and CESO policies-communicates as required
  • Responds to internal inquiries and referred outside inquiries regarding financial/contractual matters
  • Co-ordinates, time sheets statistics related to International Services
  • Provides advice to Project Directors on matters relating to project finances and field office management
  • Reviews operations for contract compliance and makes recommendations to appropriate parties regarding same
  • Performs other duties as assigned by CFO – review level of effort for International Services based on scenarios provided by Vice-President International Services/CFO
  • Cooperates with and assists others in the performance of their duties

The qualifications you will bring to the role and to our organization are the following:

  • Prior experience in executing contracts
  • Prior experience in management and/or finance/accounting - 3 to 5 years
  • Education or accreditation in finance,  accounting or business required
  • Thorough understanding of  management practices
  • Understanding of GAAP
  • Intermediate Excel and working knowledge of MS Office Professional Suite, e-mail and Internet
  • Knowledge of database use and issues
  • Ability to work on multiple teams in a variety of roles including those of leadership
  • Strong communication skills including reading and writing
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate with and influence others
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with contracts
  • Excellent understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management and issues in forecasting
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
