Paul Lavelle is the founder and CEO of Cambridge Corporate Development Inc. He advises Canadian companies and their shareholders on strategy; financing, mergers and acquisitions; governance; and family ownership matters. His executive, advisory and board experience spans many industries including transportation, real estate, energy, financial services, consumer products and communications. Mr. Lavelle's well-honed business sense will be a definite asset to CESO's board in supporting the organization's growth strategy.
Prior to establishing Cambridge in 2002, Mr. Lavelle was a senior partner with Ernst & Young LLP, where he led the firm’s Center for Strategic Transactions, advising the CEOs of the firm’s major clients. Previously, he was CEO of Thornmark Corporation, a Canadian company with major interests in shipping, real estate development, oil and gas, steel and merchant banking. He began his professional career at Clarkson Gordon where he qualified as a chartered accountant and practiced successively in assurance, corporate tax and consulting.
Mr. Lavelle is a Chartered Accountant and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He chaired the Corporate Finance Committee of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Family Firm Institute.
