BURKINA FASO—La Mutualite Femmes Et Developpement Du Burkina (MUFEDE-B) is a cooperative which provides loans to the working population who do not meet the financial requirements to receive loans from banks. This organization has a membership of 19,542—among them, 10,069 men, 9,086 women and 387 small associations. MUFEDE-B, which collects the savings of its members and grants them to the other members as loans, is active in 6 provinces.
MUFEDE-B and CESO are working together to improve MUFEDE-B’s debt collection; the ability to collect the money it gives out by an agreed upon date. With new tools and approaches introduced, the organization gets back 93% of the loans it gives out—a highly respectable amount which enables MUFEDE-B to continue providing these services.
