Avoiding Conflict of Interest

When on CESO assignments, volunteers are expected to devote their working time and energy to their assignment. They will not perform service for others, nor acquire or maintain financial interest in, or become a competitor of, the client or partner (assisted enterprise).

Recommendations made by the volunteers to an assisted enterprise, with respect to such matters as the purchase of equipment or other assets or the employment of the services of others, must be based upon the needs of the assisted enterprise and not upon any personal interest of the volunteer.

The organization, its employees and volunteers will avoid conflicts of interest and any actions which have the potential to create the perception of a conflict of interest.  All employees and volunteers are required to sign a conflict of interest agreement upon joining CESO.

In cases where a conflict of interest cannot be avoided, the individual involved is required to declare this to the organization in writing.
